Childhood and adolescence for the neurocomplex1 is often marked by existential awareness and uncharted intuition that, far too often, goes unsupported and/or unrealized. Existential gifts are often marked by an early and intense awareness of death, suffering, and the meaning of life. These young individuals (maybe little you?) grapple with complex questions and deep existential concerns well beyond what is typical for their age.

In addition to existential awareness, deep intuition often accompanies this phase, where neurocomplex children and teens experience intuitive or energetic perceptions that others may not (relate?). This flavor of neurocomplexity enables them to process complex ideas, emotions, and spiritual insights at an unusually early age, creating a profound impact on their development.

From my work with neurocomplex adults, I have uncovered common childhood and teenage themes among those who possess these existential and/or intuitive ‘gifts.’ I share these themes to potentially offer you valuable insights into your unique experiences in childhood and adolescence, shedding light on your deep sense of self-awareness, emotional intensity, and intellectual curiosity.

Let’s dig in to see if/how this may align with your complex experience.
